One Response to “ANFIL application for herbicide use”

  • Rus Glover August 11, 2011

The registration for herbicide use is now under way and we need information on how the industry might deal with it.
The Native Foods industry is required to provide more information on:
    (1) application times with respect to flowering, fruit production and harvest,
    (2) information on types of plants eg trees or bushes,
(3)Describe the spatial separation between where the herbicide is applied and the fruit and the foliage
    (4) describe edible parts, egs plums, berries, citrus or seeds,
(5)clarify that list of species is complete, including common names and Latin names
    (6) Background to how relevant native foods are grown in Australia eg interrow spacing, basic agronomy (possibly including photos of the crops at time of proposed herbicide application).
    (7) Proposed spray methods(eg interrow spray; shielded spray?). and proposed rates and timing of application and any justification for these (particularly when these differ from the instructions on labels) – including which months the herbicide will be sprayed, and how many times per year; what stage of development the crop is at time of application with respect to harvest in particular.
    (8) How will spray drift be controlled?
    (9) Are there any crop safety issues? Is there any literature (or evidence of permits/registration)from other countries or crops which supports that there are no crop safety issues
If growers can supply any of this information please send to rusglover@westnet.com.au
